| Our Strategy
The key to success in any competitive sport is to have a well rehearsed game plan, a strategy based on what you know about the opposing team. In the same way, a foundational question that we at Trinity Baptist Church must ask has to do with strategy: "What are the best methods that we can use in our church to successfully accomplish our mission, reaching the lost with the Gospel and developing them into fully devoted followers of Christ?
At Trinity, we believe that evangelism of the un-churched is a process. The lost are looking for fulfillment, meaning and hope in life. They are in desperate need of someone to facilitate the process of moving them to a saving knowledge of Christ. We at Trinity are dedicated to our mission of making the message of Christ as clear and understandable as possible to the lost. To accomplish this, we commit ourselves to the following six step strategy.
1. Building a bridge, (Luke 7:34; Mat. 9:10-13) Lost people matter to God, and therefore should matter to us. Because of this, members of Trinity are dedicated to reaching out and building bridges to the lost in a personal way. We believe that deliberately spending time in social settings with the un-churched and making friends with them is essential to establishing meaningful relationships of trust. People are more inclined to consider a radical message from a trusted friend than from a stranger.
2. Sharing a verbal witness, (II Corinthians 5:18-20; I Peter 3:15) One of the greatest witnesses that the members of Trinity can give to the lost is a picture of a real and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. The lost wants to know if Christianity works. They are not only looking for a spiritual experience that is culturally relevant, they want something more. They want to see something that is real and genuine. As believers, our lifestyle can either contradict or confirm an authentic faith. It is not enough to just be nice Christian people, unbelievers must hear why we are the way we are, who can save them, and how they can be saved.
3. Deciding for Christ, (John 3:16; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9) Christianity isnt about dos and donts, being good, or keeping man made traditions; its about accepting that Jesus is the only way to God, and asking Him to change your life. At Trinity, we believe that only through repentance and a personal faith commitment in Jesus Christ based on the work He did for them on the cross that a person is forgiven for their sins and enters into an eternal relationship with God.
4. Committing to membership, (Acts 2:41-47; Mat. 6:19-21, 23; Heb. 10:25) The Bible clearly shows that Christian believers should identify themselves with a specific local church and become totally devoted participants in it. At Trinity, this process begins as an unbeliever enters into Gods family through salvation, and continues through baptism, church membership, and service. By committing to membership we express our thanksgiving, obedience and faithfulness to God.
5. Spiritual maturity, (Mat. 28:19-20; Phil. 3:10-15; Col. 2:6-7) When you join Trinity, you do more than just joining a church, you embark on a spiritual journey of a lifetime. Because a healthy Christian is a growing Christian, we believe that developing people into fully devoted followers of Christ involves more than just salvation. It also means growing and developing into mature disciples of Christ. Mature followers of Christ are committed to learning and applying the truth of Gods Word to their lives through day to day Spirit filled living.
6. Ministering through Spiritual Gifts, (Rom. 12; I Cor. 12, Eph. 4:11-13) The Bible teaches that every believer has been blessed with a unique set of gifts and talents to be used for the common good of the church. At Trinity every member is encouraged to utilized their gifts to the glory of God, the maturing of believers and the furtherance of the Gospel. |
